Joshua's Conquest

So much to talk about, so little time to type it in. Here goes nothing:

Wade and I have been tracking a concept song I wrote (which turned into a much better collaboration work) titled "You Can Close Your Eyes". The song symbolizes the marriage of a man and woman and to us, the marriage between us and Christ. I will share the lyrics at the end of this post, PLEASE comment and tell me what you think about them. The song should be (hopefully) posted on our new MYSPACE which can be found here. Please allow us the honor of being your friend. Hopefully we can get back to mixing a few new songs and have an EP out by the end of the summer for all of you to enjoy!

Below are the lyrics: please comment, and when we post the song on our myspace, you will be the firsts to know.

You Can Close Your Eyes
James Davis//Wade Patterson

It's getting late outside
The dark has left you blind
No light for peace you cannot find
I've been noticing lately
That this world's getting crazy
Let Him come and take you inside

So you can close your eyes
And simply be His bride

You woke from a dream last night
Long before the morning light
And laying there lost in thought
Thinking that your hope is lost
You never dreamed of such a Man
With this kind of rescue plan

(CHORUS)

Sweet dreams and memories
to honor the perfect melody
He's come to make you right

The after thought.

For those that made it out to the show at Castlewoods, thank you so much for the support. For those that attended, you know already of the news I am going to formally announce, so bare with me for those that were unable to make it.

My real good friend Wade Patterson and I have spent the last several days together between working and we have been talking, writing music, and anything else inbetween. And we started a new band which we have named Joshua's Conquest. Duo guitars, duo vocals, cannot get any better than that.

Don't worry! I am still doing my solo stuff on the side, which you can check out here and you can also check out Wade's solo stuff here. I promise your ears will love it.

Joshua's Conquest I think has the potential to be something huge. We'll see where it goes :)

Til later.

Pics to follow.

Show Details

Hey again folks!

Like I said, I am playing a benefit show on Saturday, May 17 at the Castlewoods Country Club. Here is a bit of info that I really hope you'd prayerfully consider:

The benefit concert is for the Lukemia Lymphoma Society. From what I understand, they are requesting $50 a ticket. This gets you into the event, food, drink, and a few bands (including myself) will be playing raising money to help find a cure for these horrible and life taking diseases.

If you cannot pay $50, contact me and I will see what I can do.

I will post further on this later when I am not scrambled in papers. If you have any questions comment me and I will get back to you.

Ahh what a show

So I played a small "coffeehouse" show tonight at Riverwood Bible Church in Jackson tonight, and it was basically amazing. It was a laid back atmosphere, filled with lots of great music, art, poetry, and a lot of friendly and familiar faces. I hope we get to do this sort of thing again very soon.

A great bonus (for me) was getting to play along side a guy and fellow guitar player in my youth group. We started the night singing Third Day's "I've always loved you" which I think was a fitting way to start the night. Then a few acts later we came back and played "On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand" which, I will admit, I stopped halfway through the song because I forgot the third verse, thankfully we are under grace, and we were able to get right back into it without a whole lot of awkwardness.

The last song of the night the youth group played a song collectively, and I jumped it in the last second and played some electric guitar behind everybody else. I think that was my favorite part of the night. As much as I love singing, it is always just as much fun for me to stay in the background and jam with an electric guitar in hand. You can never go wrong with that.

Thats all for now. I must get some sleep.

PS - a very special thank you goes out to Katey Barlow, Brett, Cade, and their mom and dad for letting me come over and hang out. I'm sorry if we got loud, and I hope your finger gets better.

I so should be studying right now...

I cannot help myself, but I have grown an obsession to Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii. If you have not played this game, believe me after a few blazing solos you will become instantly hooked on this game. You will hear yourself saying: "I have time for one more song until I have to hit the books", until you realize "one more song" has mysteriously turned into two hours and countless of songs later. This was not a big deal, until you suddenly remember you have a test coming up you have not studied for, and that if the test was in mastering Guitar Hero III you would without a doubt get an A, but the test is in computer science, something that you are secretly dreading inside, and you have three programs that have yet to be written that are due tomorrow. Whats a guy suppost to do in this messed up scenerio?

Go back and play more guitar hero.
Will the madness ever cease?
It's my turn, I guess we'll find out!

Keep It Simple Online Now! // Valentines Day

http://www.myspace.com/jamesdavismusic

The following link will send you to my single on myspace.

I've been writing a lot of new music over the past several days. Valentines day always seems to bring the sappy love songs out of me. I've shown these songs to a few of my closest friends, and when they ask the pressing question "So, who are these songs about?" I chuckle when I tell them they are about no one, but more about my thoughts and dreams about what love really is.

I really hope to buy my home studio gear soon so I can continue the recording process. It is currently at a stand still because my schedule and my producers schedule just do not meet together in any shape form or fashion, which is quite unfortunate.

Going back to Valentines day, I really got to spend this Valentines day and watch some of my closest friends whom are in relationships, and see how they spent their day, running around trying to make sure they have "the perfect" gift/card/etc. to express how they really feel for their significant others, and it is a beautiful comedy, it really is.

I'll post more about these new songs in the coming days, off to study!
